| ____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ I believe we are all artists by means of personal expression, whatever the venue it manifests itself in, we are put here on earth to discover what intrigues us, explore the possibilities, create, grow and share with others. I don't categorize my work as a certain style, like life it remains ever changing, there are so many great techniques of putting on paint that I don't wish to commit myself to only one way, it keeps the mind fresh & stimulated when you lift limitations and continue to experiment with new ideas. I like to focus on warm and cool values of color and hard & soft edges in my paintings. I am a self taught painter, expressing myself through my paintings probably reveals more about me than anything else. Art is a fascinating way to communicate the core of our individual essence. My approach is intimately tied to my love of the human form and of nature, seeing these things through my personal perception is what I want to share with others. If I can lift someones spirits by sharing my paintings, then I have succeeded as an artist and communicating from the heart. I grew up in the beautiful mountains of Northern, California raising animals, riding horses and observing the intricacies of nature with it's changing season's. My grandmother led me to appreciate the beauty of cultivating the earth with the different variety of flowers she grew and a large vegetable garden that included decorative plants for her dried autumn arrangements. I was intrigued by creative people and wanted to explore my own creative energy, to let it flourish through the channel of art. Drawing came easy for me and from there I experimented with different mediums from oils, to pastels, to watercolors. I reside in Palm Springs, Ca. in the beautiful Coachella Valley with my husband Greg & daughter Brittany. Admired artists include: William Bougereau, John Waterhouse, Henry Draper, Georgia O'Keeffe, John Singer- Sargent, and Joaquin Sorolla. "Every painting stroke is a drawing stroke at the same time." - Scott Burdick "Squint your eyes to see the values, open your eyes to see the color."- Thank you for taking the time to view my paintings. Always choose joy... Cindy |
